|Project Duration:||2010 – 2011|
The Cadet Camp Landfill at CFB Trenton is a waterfront property on the north shore of the Bay of Quinte in the Municipality of Quinte West. The site includes a parking lot, snow dump, and a riot training facility. The site is approximately 4.9 hectares in size. Approximately 75% of the site has been backfilled with a combination of unknown waste material and fill:
- 50,000 m3 of soil is estimated to be impacted by metals;
- 50,000 m3 of soil is estimated to be impacted by inorganic compounds;
- 50,000 m3 of soil is estimated to be impacted by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compounds; and
- 77,000 m3 of groundwater is estimated to be impacted by metals, PAHs and pesticides.
XCG was retained to review previous environmental investigation reports, conduct supplementary Phase Two Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) investigations, and complete an ecological and human health detailed quantitative risk assessment (DQRA) on the property. The DQRA was completed in early 2011.
XCG provided value to the client on this project by completing the work on time in spite of a very tight schedule designed to meet inflexible federal government budgeting deadlines. XCG received an excellent score from DCC on the Consultant Performance Evaluation Report Form (CPERF) for this project: 84%.
